On the drawing board & under construction

Australia: Montebello Yachts will be launching their new 12.5m sailing cat at the 2010 Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. This first boat is the plug that was built for producing the moulds for the production built version of which there are already 2 nearing completion.

Also featuring at the SCBS will be a Montebello 12.5m power cat, the first one built with Volvo IPS drives and a sedan cabin top.  Montebello Yachts Pty Ltd

Also under way in Australia is a new project for Argus Boats. The Argus 35 is a displacement hull power cat based on the very successful custom built 10m displacement cats in NZ. The design will offer various options such as a sedan top or flybridge, inboard diesels with shafts or outboards. Construction options will include survey vessels or private yachts all built to a very high standard in resin infused cored composites. The Argus 35 will have excellent fuel economy and comfort under way or at rest.
The first Argus is under construction and is expected to be on display at the Sydney Boat Show later in 2010.

China: Arrowcat Marine are proceeding with the new Arrowcat 31 which is a longer, wider version of the current 8.9m Arrowcat 30. The new model will offer a much larger cockpit and a better presentation of the stern platform as well as side boarding doors into the cockpit. The interior benefits from the wider beam and the fwd double cabin and toilet compartments will have more space and headroom.

New Zealand: Dave Pachoud in Tauranga has a new 20m displacement power cat underway for a NZ client. This cat will be used for long range cruising around NZ and offshore to Australia and the Pacific Islands. The easily driven displacement hull has a generous beam and the accomodation spaces are large and uncluttered. The living areas of the cat are similarily on a domestic scale.

Underway in Henderson is a new alloy planing cat recently included on this web site. The 11.14m is a brand new design with an aggressive sheer line and modern styling featuring a composite cabin top.

A new 21m alloy planing cat is being built in Palmerston North by Profab Engineering for a South Island client. This design is an interesting mix of part commercial, part pleasure, still able to commercially fish but with pleasant enough appointments to cater for charter cruising work.
The cat will operate mainly on the West Coast and features robust prop protection for the occaisional grounding coming across the bars that are a hazard entering many harbours on that coastline.

A new and exciting proposal was completed recently of a 16m sailing catamaran for an organisation set up in Auckland called the Disabled Sailing Trust. The design will be built to specifically allow disabled sailors to cruise in the Auckland Harbour and Hauraki Gulf. The person behind the project and setting up the trust is Jon Kirk who now has the task of finding a sponsor and is very keen to hear from anyone who might be able to help him or offer assistance. All in all we are very happy with Sunchaser and there are very few changes we would make if we were to build this boat again
