On the drawing board & under construction

We are currently working on variety of new power and sailing cat designs and have various projects in build.

An 18.3m alloy hull and deck planing cat with a composite flybridge for a client who is based in Sydney is well advanced at Pachoud Motor Yachts Pachoud Motor Yachts  in Tauranga. Launching is scheduled for early November 2015 and after the seatrials are completed it will make it's way across the Tasman.

Another design on the go for Australian clients is the 18.7m semi displacement composite power cat under construction in Noosa with Julian Griffith and his team at Noosa Marine www.noosamarine.com.au. The project has gone very well and is scheduled for launching late 2015. This cat is being built from an extensive ATL Composites www.atlcomposites.com 'Duflex' kit set and has a very roomy interior with excellent living, entertaining, and sleeping areas, very suitable for long range cruising and living on board.

Also on the go at Pachoud Motor Yachts and launching in time for the Auckland Boat Show in September 2015 is a 20m semi displacement, long range, power cat for an Auckland based client. This boat features a very large open plan cockpit/saloon living area and every feature required for a very comfortable live aboard lifestyle and long range cruising capability.

Staying with Pachouds in Tauranga we have recently started a new 18m high speed foiling power cat design for a South Island client that is based on the highly acclaimed and successful 'Voodoo' design built at this yard 4 years ago.

This new boat will be based in Auckland and like it's predecessor be capable of fast offshore passage making.

Under construction in Auckland is a high performance 20m sailing cat for a NZ client. This is a completely carbon fibre and foam core cat with a large emphasis on performance but still with a well fitted out interior with 4 double cabins, ensuite bathrooms and a very large galley, dining, and lounge area in the saloon and also in the cockpit. The carbon rig will rotate and the curved 'C' foils will optimize up wind and reaching performance under sail. Launching in October 2015.

As soon as the 20m sailing cat is out of the shed the same boat building team led by Jon Douglas will start building a new 18.5m cruising cat for another Auckland client. Similar to the 20m this will be an all carbon resin infused structure of minimal weight for maximum performance. This owner has been sailing high performance mono hulls all his life and is expecting his new sailing cat to carry on that theme. PURE Design & Engineering www.pde.co.nz are in charge of the composite engineering and will be doing a full FEA on the structure which will submitted to DNV-GL for approval. Launching will be October 2016.

Alloy Cats www.alloycats.co.nz have nearly finished a new 12m displacement hull power cat which will be in the Auckland Boat Show late September. This design is suitable for various forms of propulsion and interior layout can be taylored to suit individual client's requirements.

All in all we are very happy with Sunchaser and there are very few changes we would make if we were to build this boat again
